Are you wondering why your hair is looking unhealthy, not holding your color as well as it could? Or, maybe, you are doing everything you can for your hair and it is still not enough. Here are some of my personal tips to help get your hair vivacious again!
1) Trimming your hair every 8-12 weeks to remove split ends. Removing split ends helps hair grow faster in the long run. Split ends continue to travel up the hair, not down. SO the longer you wait in between the more split ends may need to be addressed.
2) Using quality, salon recommended products will ensure hair’s healthy and integrity. Convenience store products are filled with parabens and bad silicones which entirely break down the hair’s elasticity and durability. There are so many products out there now, so making sure that you talk to your stylist about what they recommend would be most beneficial for you and your hair. Remember, your stylist is going to know you and your hair more than someone at your local store.
3) Depending on your hair type, using a hair mask once a week - once a month builds strength and protein back into the hair. A hair mask is more nourishing than your daily conditioner.
4) Your diet has a huge impact on the health of your hair. Make sure you’re hydrating and getting enough nutrients. Collagen or Biotin (B Vitamin) is great for strengthening hair. Over consumption of alcohol, smoking, and certain medication can also affect the hair's integrity.
5) Protect against heat damage. Your irons should NOT exceed 315- 325 degrees. Make sure you’re using a heat protectant. I personally recommend Oligo Blacklight 18 in Beautifying Spray which has 18 beneficial qualities for your hair including a heat protectant.
