We love a good low-maintenance hair routine. But when it comes to your scalp? What seems easy in the
short term can lead to long-term problems.

Think small shifts - long term results.

Most of Us Don't Think About Scalp Health

We often assume our hair protects the scalp - and in many ways, it does. But that doesn't mean your scalp doesn't need care of its own. A big part of that? How you dry your hair.

Let's Talk Habits That Might Be Holding You Back:

  • Going to bed with wet hair.
Would you sleep in wet clothes? Probably not - you'd wake up cold and uncomfortable, and it could even lead to other issues. Same goes for your scalp.

  • Putting your hair up tightly while its wet.
That moisture sits trapped against your scalp for hours, creating the perfect environment for irritation, overproduction of oil, and even bacteria or fungus.

The Stats Say It All

Over 10 million people in the U.S deal with some form of scalp condition. I see this firsthand - with my partner and with clients who struggle with sensitive, reactive scalps.

Real Talk: Your Style Doesn't Matter if Your Scalp Can't Handle It

Since transitioning into a more holistic hair practice, one thing is clear:
A haircut or hair color might look great in the moment, but if your scalp can't tolerate what it takes to maintain it - what's the point?

You deserve to wear that style or color for 2-3 days between washes without:

  • itching
  • flaking
  • or oil overload

It all Starts with the Basics: A Dry Scalp = A Happy Scalp

Want to level up your scalp health? Start by making sure your scalp is completely dry within one hour washing.
This one shift can reduce irritation and help keep your scalp microbiome in balance - especially if you have conditions like seborrheic dermatitis.

No Blow-dryer? No Problem.

If you're traveling or avoiding heat tools:

  • Use a microfiber towel (it absorbs more than cotton)
  • Let your hair dry in the sun (safely +moderately)
  • Or get a breeze going - nature's blow-dryer

Bottom Line?

Caring for your scalp is self-care. It doesn't have to be complicated - it just needs to be aligned.
